Herb Drying Rack

This is a drying rack for herbs, flowers, and other things from your garden! It stands 48 inches high and has a footprint of 26 inches by 20 inches.

There are nine individual screens that are removable from the case. Each screen is steel mesh and held in place with battens and brass screws.

I used no metal fasteners in the case, using dovetails, dados, and wedged through tenons throughout. There are stops at the rear of the case glued and pegged into a rabbet. The frames are made with pegged bridle joints.

The drying rack is made of locally sourced fir. I picked pieces that highlight the wood’s gorgeous color and grain.

I finished the rack with one coat of pure linseed oil and one coat of shop made soft wax!

I designed this rack to give ample surface area on the frames and plenty of air circulation. It is also scalable up or down in size, depending on the user’s needs!
